Mahalaxmi Temple

The temples located in the scenic area of ​​Konkan are very special. These temples with beautiful, beautiful, Kaularu roofs have been a place of worship for devotees for many generations. This temple has been inhabited for centuries in the hills, lakes, rivers and green forests of Konkan. There is a similar temple of Mahalakshmi at the foot of Utambar mountain on the back of a dense forest at the southern end of Kelshi village. The construction of the temple dates back to the Peshwa period.

There is a pond in the temple area and there are steps to go down to the pond. There are always many lotuses in the pond. The temple complex stands out against the backdrop of lush green forests.

Near the main entrance of the temple, a special hall has been built for playing Sanai Choughada and the entire area of the temple has a stone rampart 8 to 10 feet high. The temple has two domes and under one dome there is a self-contained place of Mahalakshmi and under the other dome there is a hall. In the evening, when the tune of Sanai is heard, the feet automatically linger in the temple.

There is a big festival of Goddess during Chaitra Shuddha Ashtami to Chaitra Shuddha Pournima, which is famous all over Maharashtra. Since Navratri is a festival of the Goddess, there is a very pleasant atmosphere in the temple even during that time. The temple is illuminated with beautiful lamps and the temple hosts events like Gondhal, Kirtan, Rathyatra.
