After completing the journey to Mandangad, on the way to Dapoli, there is a 3 km long shore of Kelshi. The sandy beach is still open with Kevada, Suruchi forests and dense coconut groves. After crossing the thick bushes, the beauty of this beach becomes something else.
In the Konkani language, the rocky area near the beach is called ‘Khadap’. A variety of marine resources can be found on the black cliffs that penetrate the sea near the Utambar mountain in Kelshi. Various marine organisms such as conch, mussels, crabs, sea cucumbers, urchins, crabs are found in the water stored on the rocks. This is a great place to see the precious marine treasures. Similarly, a huge sand dune appears to have formed on the shores of Kelashi. Researchers have suggested that the hill may have been formed by a tsunami that occurred some time ago.
